COLD Singer Confirms Guitarist's Departure, Addresses 'Rehab' Rumors

January 19, 2004

COLD frontman Scooter Ward has apparently responded to recent rumors of a possible band break-up following the defection of guitarist Terry Balsamo to EVANESCENCE. He has also addressed the reports that he has been "in and out of rehab and having real problems," as first revealed by EVANESCENCE singer Amy Lee in an interview conducted in Australia last week. Writing to COLD's official message board, Ward said, "So it's official. Terry has left us for EVENESCENCE. I don't know why and I don't want to. I also don't know why Amy threw my life out there like she did. I never did anything but treat her with respect. But this is the life I choose and I understand not everything can be a secret. I just wish she would have let me tell my story when I was ready. As for COLD, we are releasing 'Wasted Years' [as a single] soon. We are looking for a new guitarist and we will be starting on our new record when we get off the road. Terry was and is a great person and I don't think anyone should ever speak ill of him. I love him and he was one of my best friends and it hurts my heart to lose him. Sorry everyone."
